| Sparrow Health System is a 676-bed Level I Trauma Center located in Lansing, MI. As a regional medical center for multiple specialties, our new Sparrow Tower brings the latest medical advances to the mid-Michigan region, including all-private rooms, our new high-tech ER, the Granger Pediatric Emergency Department and a new home to our Surgery Department. Sparrow Hospital is a teaching hospital affiliated with Michigan State University. Most recently, Sparrow has partnered with MSU to serve as a clinical site for MSU’s new CRNA program.
At this time, our CRNA’s are not being required to pick up on call. We have a self-scheduling format that allows our CRNA’s to develop their own schedule, which includes scheduling for off-shift requirements. Our CRNA’s typically see cases in areas such as Outpatient Surgery, Trauma, Neuro, Pediatrics, OB Services and Thoracic Anesthesia. Our CRNA’s are Medically Directed by an anesthesiologist and typically administer the induction agent. There are approximately 26 CRNA’s on staff here at Sparrow and 20 anesthesiologists. The CRNA’s at Sparrow are asked to cover both the Main hospital and our St. Lawrence Campus, which is approximately 3 miles from the Main hospital.
